Lucas first joined The Capital last summer looking to regain strength in his legs and around his knee joint in order to one day play soccer again. He has been working hard for the past 8 months with coach Ian following his second ACL reconstructive surgery.
“I was 3 months post op from my second ACL reconstruction surgery, the World Cup of soccer was on and I told myself if I ever wanted to play soccer again I needed to strengthen my knee.”
Lucas did not have a lot of gym experience before starting at The Capital. “I was nervous. I wasn’t sure of myself and I didn’t know what to expect.” It did not take long before Lucas felt part of the #cstsfamily.
“I like the welcoming feeling when I come through the door – wether it’s a “hey man” or a head nod, it meant a lot when I first started coming. The encouragement from all the staff and other members as I progress has been awesome.”
Coach Ian has been focusing his program heavily on proprioceptive work, full body strength work, and appropriate agility/plyometric based exercises to help with his return to sport. Lucas has even recently began to play ice hockey again!
“He keeps the workouts interesting and challenging. Always introducing new movements as my knee progresses and always making lifts challenging for me. I’ve seen amazing improvements in my overall fitness and I don’t know where I’d be without these guys but I know it wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am right now!”
