Kylar is one of our dedicated 17U Boys Mavericks volleyball athletes who has been a part of the#CSTSFamily for 3 years. His work ethic and consistency in the gym are easily noticeable every training session.
Kylar had a background in karate and hockey before starting volleyball in grade 9. His school teacher convinced him to join the Mavericks Volleyball Club and he has never looked back.
When Kylar first started training at The Capital, the coaching staff and environment really stood out to him. “My favourite part is the overall environment. I’ve got good relationships with all the coaches, and the team atmosphere is great.” He would frequently ask the staff about recommendations on his additional home training.
“I got a lot of advice and I tried to base my personal workouts around things I learned at Capital. I started adding in more mobility and functional exercises at home.”
Kylar has a good understanding of the process he’s gone through in the past few years. He has felt the progression of exercises and the increased intensity in the off-season programming.
“In 16U we started getting more lifts, and again this year we’ve been given a lot more trust to do heavier weights and push ourselves. I see that everything that we’ve done previously has built on itself, and helped us move better and get stronger.” “The Summer Off-Season Program pushed us extra hard. It really took advantage of our time off and got us strong for the start of season.”
